Inside

As soon as you step through the front door, you realise that Tanah Merah is not an ordinary holiday house. From this point you have a view over the living and dining area and you realise that the furnishing is not designed for wet and sandy beach people. Many old prints, antique furniture and objects d'art attract your attention. Nearly every piece of furniture tells its own exciting story, and one day when you are a guest in this house, the owners would like to tell you about the origin and meaning of all these beautiful things.

When the wise and watchful owl from the isle of Lombok (Indonesia) sets the way free, you reach the dining room on the left-hand side. The extendable table from teakwood sits up to 10 people.

Two steps down and you reach the sitting room, which is surrounded by small built-in cupboards and the fireplace. This area offers a cosy meeting point for the chilly evenings in spring and autumn. This spacious area offers a good opportunity for discussions and drinks.

The counter separating the dining room from the sitting room is mainly decorated with lacquer ware from Myanmar (Burma). The TV is also here and offers the 2 German Programms ARD and ZDF.

To the left and the right of the terrace are the main bedrooms: Singapore  and Bangkok. Both have an en-suite bathroom, TV, fridge, hairdryer, and a kettle for your early morning tea or coffee. They have comfortable twin beds and a breathtaking view over the sea.

From here you can watch the whales in the bay from July till October. An electric heater and a fan ensure comfortable climate at any time. Both bathrooms have a shower and towel heater.

Two smaller bedrooms, The Peak and Regency Park, with comfortable queen size beds, are along the corridor. They share a very nice bathroom decorated with tiles from Laura Ashley.

The large open-plan kitchen is equipped with modern appliances and utensils.

In 2007 the owner raised the house partly and moved from the Pool floor to the new floor. Therefore also the pool floor can be rented out. We gave this floor the name Myanmar (Birma). Because to Myanmar was the last trip of the owner in Asia, and they were so impressed that they want to keep the memory alive.

The Myanmar floor has two bedrooms and 2 bathrooms one lounge and a fully equipped kitchen. This floor is especially suitable for longtime booking(it sleeps 4 people).

The rooms got their names from cities in Myanmar. Rangoon or Yangoon is the capital and Pagan the most famous city with thousands of pagodas.

The two rooms can also be booked with breakfast. That is even possible when you booked for selfcatering.

In the lounge there is a TV equipped for DSTV and the German Bouquet.

Fully equipped kitchen;
Everybody who wants to escape the long European winter (golfer) does not want to go dining every evening. Instead of a big meal in one of the execellent restaurants alot of people like to prepare a light meal by their own.

For your safety, all security matters are regarded in the house. Also you will find enough secure parking on the property.
